THe Gardner Caroling Tradition

Tuesday night the Gardner family loaded into the van to go caroling. This has become a most favorite tradition in our family over the years. As you can see by the picture, there are some definite perks to singing to your friends and neighbors! But way past the generous goodies we seem to accumulate along the way, there are choice experiences and memories that make the season extra bright for us. There is a wonderful spirit of love and joy that is shared between our family and those that open the door to us. There is pleasant surprise, immediate smiles, happiness and often tears. Whatever the circumstance that might be going on before the door is opened, the true spirit of Christmas takes over, for those ten minutes or so there is peace, friendship and a feeling of joy shared between us. What gratitude I have for the gospel of Jesus Christ. How glorious it is to know we are all truly brothers and sisters and that he was born to save us all. May that true joy find a place in our hearts, may we allow it stay awhile, that it can become a feeling we allow to grow and change us for the better.

"Merry Christmas"

Have you noticed it? People are saying "Merry Christmas".
I've noticed a difference this year. As I have been out and about weather it be the mall or the dentist, I am hearing "Merry Christmas", not, "Have a happy holiday".

I'm feeling happy about this.

It seems believing people are finding their "backbone" again. I for one, have grown tired of my beliefs being lost to "the church of the political right." Yesterday I said very clearly, "Merry Christmas" to the cashier, receptionist and bag boy. No one seemed upset, in fact they seemed extra happy to reciprocate a cheery "Merry Christmas" back.

This morning I signed a teachers weekly report for Rilyn to return to school. She wrote, "Happy Holidays" on the paper,(she's probably not allowed to write anything else, I understand that) I lightly penciled out H.H., signed my name and wrote Merry Christmas on the paper back to her.

To be honest, Rilyn seemed a bit miffed because I ran my pencil lead through H.H. maybe that wasn't necessary, but I wanted to say something-make a small statement, so I did.

It seemed right at the time.It seems right now too.

Merry Christmas.

Extra Credit Time.

For Bio 100 Dr. Robinson gave us the opportunity to turn in an Extra Credit Project for 50 points. The only requirement is that whatever you turn in must be biologically based. Basically, the universe is the limit. So, taking advantage of Weston being here in Provo for a few days, I decided to put him to work... all last minute of course, but I think the outcome was decent :) I ended up getting the 50 points, so it served its purpose at least.

Just thought I'd share our quick little diddy with you all. (yes, we put it together in less than an hour and at around 11:30 PM...so, by all means, do not expect perfection--but regardless, I hope you ENJOY)

THE LYRICS :)

Biology, Biology ( sung to the tune of "O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree")

Biology, biology, thy studies do enthrall me

Biology, biology, I see the trees so lovely

Each lesson learned brings me delight, meaning Doc Robinson was right

Biology, biology, three points make the cell theory.

Biology, Biology, biotic things are living

Biology, biology, basics of chem pertaining

Your teachings range from large to small, in this song I cannot fit all

Biology, biology, energy flow is not cycling

Each lesson learned brings me delight, meaning Doc Robinson was right

Biology, biology I cannot live without thee.

Each lesson learned brings be delight, meaning Doc Robinson was right

Biology, biology please bring me 50 extra credit points!

Up late...unpacking my suitcase

I know it's late but I figured everyone would really love to hear kam's new song.... over and over and over. She graciously recorded it right before she left for class the last day I was there. Good old sister... how awesome is she?
